Dr. Amy Anderson
DVM
Dr. Amy Anderson grew up in Eastern Pennsylvania. Growing up, horses were a big part of her life and she spent a lot of time in the barn. It was at Hilltop Farm, where she developed a strong interest in veterinary medicine. She often assisted the veterinarians working on the farm. She received a bachelor's degree in Animal Bioscience from Penn State University and went on to receive her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Iowa State. Dr. Anderson first practiced as a mixed animal vet in Oaks, ND working on cattle, horses, sheep, dogs, and cats. After moving to Fargo, she became an owner of the West Fargo Animal Hospital in 2008. Amy is married to Anthony "Quinn" Anderson. They live in West Fargo with their two girls, Piper and Paisley. Their menagerie of pets include a French Bulldog named Wally, a cat named Marvin, and 3 Quarter Horses (Geoffrey, Gucci, and Joey).
Dr. Carrie Summerfield
DVM
Dr. Carrie Summerfield is from Minot, ND. She received her BS in Biology from the University of North Dakota and her DVM from the University of Minnesota. She has practiced at the West Fargo Animal Hospital since 1997 and became an owner in 2008. In 2019 she became certified in Veterinary Medical Acupuncture and is enjoying this additional way to treat her patients. Dr. Summerfield is married to Shawn Stewart and they have 2 children, Jack and Andie, 2 dogs Lulu and Millie, and a cat named Boo. Dr. Summerfield mostly spends her time away from the clinic running to her kids activities. When time allows she also enjoys camping, reading, quilting and other crafts.
Dr. Melissa Schlader
DVM
Dr. Melissa Schlader is originally from central Iowa. She received her bachelor's degree at the University of Iowa and her DVM from Iowa State University. She has practiced in the Fargo-Moorhead area for 10 years. Dr. Schlader is married to Mark and has 3 children - Gannon, Zoey and Jack. Her furry family includes her cat, Frankie and adopted dog, Ashley. She spends most of her spare time running around her kids, but also enjoys reading and traveling.
Dr. Alexandra McCormack
DVM
Dr. Alex McCormack, formerly Dr. Alex Frolek, grew up in Hawley, MN. After completing her undergraduate degree from NDSU, she then moved to Grand Cayman for her first three years of veterinary school. Her fourth year of vet school was spent doing clinical rotations at the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana. She has practiced in the Fargo-Moorhead area since 2017. She is a highly skilled and compassionate veterinarian dedicated to the well-being and health of animals. She is a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Therapist (CCRT), completing her studies through Canine Rehab Institute in 2022. Dr. Alex’s other special interests include clinical pathology, feline medicine, and seeing urgent care appointments. She enjoys client education and getting to know clients as well as their furry family members. When she’s not at work or volunteering, Dr. Alex spends time with her husband and daughter, Jeff and Anastasia. Also part of their family is four cats (Equinox, Yeti, Ant and Chipmunk), chickens are coming soon! She enjoys the outdoors during the summertime and cuddling up with hot chocolate and a good book during the winter months.
Dr. Megan Pedersen
DVM
Dr. Megan Pedersen is from Hankinson, ND. She received her BS in Animal Science from NDSU in 2015. Dr. Pedersen moved to Grenada in the fall of 2015 to pursue her DVM at St. George's for her first 3 years and completed her clinical year at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Pedersen began her veterinary career in 2020 in Wahpeton, ND as a mixed animal practitioner. She joined the West Fargo Animal Hospital team in June of 2022. Dr. Pedersen is married to Jared Pedersen and they just had their first child last fall, Royce. They also have a Pembroke Welsh Corgi named Rudy. Dr. Pedersen mostly spends her time away from the clinic hanging out with her family and friends at their home in rural Colfax, ND. In her downtime away from the clinic she enjoys her time outdoors hanging on her deck or wrangling her husband into her many DIY projects
Beth
AS, LVT, Inventory Manager
Beth grew up in Devils Lake, ND. She graduated with a degree in Veterinary Technology in 2000 while living in the Twin Cities and soon made her home in the FM area. She has been a fixture at West Fargo Animal Hospital since 2003. Beth currently has a crew of 4-legged children in her home – 3 cats Sammy, Rei, and Violet and as a recent new addition, a senior chihuahua mix named Maeve. Her special interests include dentistry, working in the laboratory, working with feline patients and small dogs, practicing a Fear Free approach to veterinary care as well as managing inventory at the hospital.
Christine
BS, LVT, FFCP
Christine is from West Fargo, ND. She graduated from NDSU in 2017 with a Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Technology and two minors in Large Animal Veterinary Technology and Animal Science. She has a black Labrador Retriever named Lettie that is her best friend. In her free time, she enjoys spending time at the lake, baking, painting, doing craft projects and shopping. Christine's special interests include dentistry, supervising the West Fargo Pound and animal behavior - she is also a certified Fear Free Professional!
Kel
BS, LVT
Kel grew up in Bismarck, ND. She graduated from NDSU in 2016 with a degree in Veterinary Technology and a minor in Large Animal. Kel's special interests include surgery, radiology, and exotics. Kel and her husband have 3 pets, a German Shepherd named Ellie and two cats named Mya & Alue.
Casey
BS, LVT
Casey graduated from the NDSU veterinary technology program in 2002. Her passion has always been anything that has to do with animals. After taking some time off from working in the animal emergency realm, she decided she couldn't stay away from being a vet tech any longer. Casey's favorite part about being a vet tech is... everything!
Alexis
BS, LVT
Alexis is originally from Edgeley, ND. She graduated from NDSU in 2020 with a degree in Veterinary Technology. Alexis has had an interest in working with animals since she was a very young age. She has three cats (Zuri, Kiwi, and Leslie) and two parakeets (Tim and Cersei). Alexis loves doing anything outdoors (running, rollerblading, camping, fishing, swimming). Other interests of hers are drawing, video gaming, and being with friends and family. In the future, she would like to specialize in dentistry.

Kamie is from Fargo, ND. She graduated from NDSU in 2021 with a Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Technology. Her hobbies include drawing, coloring, playing video games, being outdoors, and spending time with her one cat Alice. Her special interests in the veterinary field include exotics, dentistry, radiology, and laboratory work.

Katie is originally from rural central Minnesota. She graduated from NDSU in 2022 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Veterinary Technology. Katie has a black cat named Kiara that loves going places with her and being a personal talking shadow. Her hobbies include skiing, snowboarding, reading books, and playing video games. She is currently working towards getting Fear Free certified and loves getting to work with animals every day.

Heather
Practice Manager
Heather was born and raised in Fargo, ND. She started her experience at the West Fargo Animal Hospital in 2010-2012 as a Receptionist. In 2012 she moved to the Bemidji, MN area where she continued her animal experience as the Kennel Coordinator for the local animal shelter, and served on the Animal Welfare Committee. Heather moved back to Fargo in 2017 and was excited to join the West Fargo Animal Hospital's team as the practice manager. Heather enjoys any time spent outdoors with her husband Garett, especially at Lake Maud and the Bemidji area. Heather has one senior cat named NayNay.

Abby
Customer Service Representative
Abby grew up in Wahpeton North Dakota. Her love for animals started with volunteering at the Humane Society in town. Abby has since worked at doggy day cares, animal shelters and has since found her groove as a Customer Service Representative at the WFAH. Abby enjoys spending time with her Fiancé and her dogs Shiloh, Chevy Clarence, her cat Neil, and her guinea pig Alice. Abby’s favorite thing about working at the clinic is being able to connect with the clients and their pets.

Lisa grew up in Horace, ND. Her love for animals started at a young age and has had pets all of her life. Lisa currently resides in Fargo, ND with husband Luke and 4 yr old son, Theo, along with a house full of Siberian Huskies. Lisa enjoys reading, watching movies, being outdoors, and photography in her spare time.

Rue
Clinic Cat
Rue is the charming and playful feline who holds a special place in the hearts of everyone at our clinic. Rue joined our family in July of 2022 after he was adopted through our West Fargo Pound and has been an integral part of our team ever since. Rue truly embodies the spirit of compassion and care that defines our veterinarian clinic and team members. His unconditional love and comforting presence make him an indispensable member of the team.
Rue serves as the honorary pet greeter in our treatment room, welcoming patients with gentle purrs and a friendly nudge. His presence helps create a warm and comforting environment, reducing stress and anxiety for both animals and humans alike. He possesses a keen instinct for comforting and reassuring the animals during their visits. Whether it's snuggling up to a nervous pup before an exam or providing company to a recovering patient, he has a natural ability to provide solace and companionship.
During his downtime, Rue can be found perched on his favorite window hammock, observing the bustling world outside, or engaged in a lively game of chase with a stray toy. His mischievous spirit brings joy to the clinic, reminding everyone to take a break and enjoy the simple pleasures in life.
